Description: Ali Mirza is a second-year law student at the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law from the Chicago-land area. On campus he is public interest fellow, assistant managing advocate for the Employment Advocacy Project, a Golub Capital Board Fellow, and an associate editor for the Journal of Law and Social Change. During his 1L summer he worked as a Peggy Browning Fellow for Justice at Work Boston and a litigation intern at Civil Rights Corps. His interests include criminal law reform, workers’ rights, and improving access to justice. Before law school, he worked in eviction defense in Detroit, the Vera Institute for Justice, ACLU National, and the Illinois Governor’s Office. He received a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he was a member of the university’s board of trustees. In his free time, he likes to cook, play chess, and spend time with friends and family.
