Description: Afsha Malik (she/her) is a first-generation Pakistani-American Muslim and native New Yorker. Afsha graduated with a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in Social Work from Molloy University, soon after pursuing a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. At the time, Afsha was on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Social Workers - New York State Chapter, concluding her term as Nassau County’s Division Director. During the pandemic, Afsha provided consultation services to North Shore Soup Kitchen and its Board of Directors, helping the organization build out its strategic plan and governance structure. Afsha also served as a Research and Program Associate with Pregnancy Justice, working to advance the rights of those criminalized on the basis of their pregnancy. Afsha is a J.D. Candidate at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She is a Staff Editor on Cardozo Law Review, a Teaching Assistant for Lawyering & Legal Writing, and a Legal Intern for the Innocence Project.
