Description: Abid Hossain is a graduate of New York University School of Law. He has served in multiple roles for the New York City Council as an Assistant General Counsel and as Chief Labor & Employment Counsel. He has provided training and legal guidance to New York City Council Members and their staff regarding employment-related matters, among other things. Prior to joining the New York City Council’s Office of the General Counsel in 2015, Abid served as an Excelsior Service Fellow at the New York State Division of Human Rights, where he worked on employment discrimination cases pertaining to the New York State Human Rights Law. He hopes to continue to use his legal education and experience to empower and defend Muslim-Americans, such as through pro bono services. He also hopes to one day enter the realm of politics and give a stronger voice to his community.
