    Bio: Shems Al-Ubaidi is a student at Indiana University majoring in International Studies and Arabic with minors in Political Science and History. She works at IU's Center for the Study of the Middle East as an undergraduate assistant and is an active member of her campus community. As a founding member of her university’s Eleanor Roosevelt Society, Shems helps create a space on campus centered on the empowerment and inclusion of women in the fields of international affairs. In the past, she has also been active in local movements relating to climate action and assistance for incarcerated people. After graduation, Shems hopes to attend law school to become equipped with all the skills needed to advocate for her communities here and abroad.
