Description: Mariam Alkazemi  completed her PhD at the University of Florida in Mass Communication and Mass Media Studies in 2014.  She has had several peer-reviewed conference papers accepted to various conferences. At the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, three of her co-authored works were presented. Mariam also served as a panelist on religious literacy for reporters at the Broadcast Education Association. Also, she served as co-editor for the Religion and Media Interest Group of AEJMC over the course of the last year. Mariam received a teaching award from the University of Florida’s Graduate School in 2014 and has co-authored a study that won a first-place top paper award in the Mass Communication and Society Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Religion is one of Alkazemi’s areas of interest. She has authored several studies exploring willingness to communicate about religion, some of which deal with Islam.
