Two-time ISF scholar, Alaa Elassar is a writer for CNN Digital where she covers breaking news stories for CNN. She graduated from Georgia State University with bachelor's degrees in journalism and political science and is now a master's student at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. During her undergraduate studies, she was a three-time intern for CNN before officially joining the international team as a producer and researcher. She also served as a Legislative Intern and writer at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Capitol Bureau while working as managing editor of AtlantaMuslim.com and copy editor for the Signal, Georgia State University's newspaper. Her articles often cover issues affecting American Muslims and Muslim women, including some of our other ISF alumni! Alaa's talent and breadth of experiences result in journalism that is fair, impartial, and representative of Muslims in the U.S. and across the globe.

Nadine Mansour was a 2020 scholar who graduated with honors from Columbia University with a B.A. in Political Science and experience in Europe and the Middle East. Nadine is a globally-minded content strategist who loves to expand people's horizons, build bridges, and leverage the latest technologies to do so. Her professional experience includes working in social media and communications for Physicians for Human Rights, the Al Jazeera Media Network, and SiriusXM.
