    Description: Abid Hossain is currently a first-year law student at New York University School of Law. He hopes to use his law degree to continue to empower and defend Muslim-Americans, be it through pro bono services or working for a civil rights organization such as CAIR. After substantial work in the non-profit sector, he also hopes to one day enter the realm of politics and give a stronger voice to his community. UPDATE 2018: Abid M. Hossain serves as an Assistant General Counsel to the New York City Council. In this role, he provides training and legal guidance to New York City Council Members and their staff regarding employment-related matters, among other things. Prior to joining the New York City Council’s Office of the General Counsel in 2015, Abid served as an Excelsior Service Fellow at the New York State Division of Human Rights, where he worked on employment discrimination cases pertaining to the New York State Human Rights Law.
