Description: Sakina Bhatti is a Kashmiri-American law student at Penn State Law, University Park. While in law school, she participated in the Center for Immigrants Rights Clinic, where she successfully represented a detained client seeking asylum. Her professional journey includes working at the Muslim Legal Fund of America and Hamed Law, a firm dedicated to immigration and civil rights. Sakina earned her Bachelor's Degree from Colorado College, where she double majored in Feminist & Gender Studies and Political Science. Her leadership qualities shone through as she served as the Student Body President and actively engaged in student activism. Her undergraduate thesis, "Unknotting the Double-Bind: The Paradox of Muslim Women’s Faith-Based Activism," reflects her interest in social justice grounded in Islamic principles, challenging the notion that religion and social justice cannot coexist. Her advocacy is deeply rooted in her belief that, as Muslims, it is our religious duty to seek out justice in our lives.
