The ISF Journalism Fellowship provides financial assistance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to students and recent graduates undertaking summer internships with media outlets.
About the Program
This fellowship will empower aspiring American Muslim journalists with the skills and hands-on experience needed to shape narratives and perspectives in newsrooms. By bridging the gap between education and professional experience, we are fostering a more inclusive and authentic representation of American Muslim voices in journalism
What to Expect
Those who have secured internships lasting a minimum of 8 weeks are eligible to apply for a stipend of up to $5,000, professional one-on-one mentorship, and paid access to journalism conferences and conventions.
Applications are evaluated based on evidence of leadership potential and professional skills to succeed as a journalist.
Eligibility
- An active member of the Muslim community,
- A U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the United States, or a DACA recipient,
- An undergraduate (junior or senior) or of graduate standing enrolled in a journalism program or related field OR recent graduates within the last 12 months.
- Must secure an internship for a media outlet,
- The internship must be in-person and cannot be a remote position,
- The minimum internship duration must be 8 weeks
