Description: My name is Amina Khalique, and I am a graduate in Political Science with a concentration in public policy. As a daughter of immigrants, I grew up in poverty for the majority of my life, and that experience, along with my intersectional identities as a Muslim woman of color, radicalized and shaped my passion for social justice, community organizing, and policy advocacy. During my time at Wayne State, I served as a Democracy Fellow for Campus Vote Project, an Organizing Fellow for the Michigan Student Power Network, and the Campus Lead Organizer for the Equality Votes Campaign. I served students as a Student Senator for Wayne State's Student Senate and as the Director of Policy and Advocacy for Detroit Period Project. Aside from my work on campus, I was a Policy and Research Associate with We the People Michigan. Moving forward, I wish to pursue a career in improving social policies for marginalized and underrepresented communities. In my free time, I enjoy reading.
