  • Name: Ibrahim Bey

    Recipient Type: Scholarship Recipient

    Recipient Year: 2016

    School Name: NYU

    Major: Film and Television Production

Description: Originally from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Ibrahim Bey graduated from the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at New York University’s, Tisch School of the Arts. In his time at Tisch, Ibrahim produced two student films and shot his first short film. At NYU Ibrahim was involved with a group known as Radical Artists Aiming for Diversity (RAAD), which started as a response to concerns about the lack of diversity in both the local and larger artistic community. From it’s conception, RAAD grew into a social and political vanguard within Tisch. In addition, Ibrahim was also a leader within NYU’s International Cinema club, which was created not only as a way for students to enjoy great films, but also as a means of promoting diversity within filmmaking. An aspiring, writer and director, Ibrahim views filmmaking, just as with most art forms, as a means to explore ourselves both as individuals, and as members of a greater society.
