Description: Brhan Ahmed holds a JD degree from UC Berkeley. Brhan was a first-generation college student, and he was the first in his family to become an attorney. Born to Yemeni immigrants in Fresno, California, Brhan grew up on a small goat farm. Due to the post-9/11 prejudice he and his family experienced in the Central Valley, Brhan left the farm life and traveled to Washington, D.C. in hopes of attaining the education he needed to combat Islamophobia and to influence public opinion and public policy. Brhan studied Arabic, theology, and political theory at Georgetown University. As an intern for Georgetown University’s Campus Ministry, Brhan coordinated interfaith dialogues and worked towards peacebuilding. He also worked on Capitol Hill as a congressional intern and spent a year studying Arabic and theology in Amman, Jordan. As a law student, Brhan also worked as a judicial extern for the United States Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges.
