Description: Edil Hassan is an MFA candidate and Olin fellow at Washington University in St. Louis, where she studies poetry under Carl Phillips and Mary Jo Bang. She has received support from Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference and a fellowship from the Stadler Center. Published in Poetry magazine and anthologized in Halal If You Hear Me, her work explores Black Muslim girlhood, theater and performance, and national memory. Her chapbook Duugsi Girl was recently selected by Kwame Dawes and Chris Abani for the New Generation African Poets chapbook series by the African Poetry Book Fund and Akashic Books.
