Description: Fatima Wardy is a Sudanese filmmaker, currently based in Austin, Texas. Her work delves into the nature of diasporic existence: how displacement from home breeds connection and disconnection in the daily lives of immigrants. Fatima Wardy directed the award-winning short film 'Hair Care' (2023), written by Karl-Mary Akre. She is currently in pre-production for her next narrative short, a mother-daughter drama titled 'White Musk' and this script earned her a Sundance Institute Building Bridges Fellowship as well as a Berlinale Talents selection for Short Form Station 2024. Prior to pursuing independent filmmaking in the US, Fatima Wardy was a breaking news journalist and assistant producer of documentaries for the BBC in London. Her MFA studies at The University of Texas at Austin were aided by a Pigott/BAFTA scholarship and a BAFTA/Fulbright Award
