    Description: Zeytun Ahmed was born and raised in the Dadaab, Kenya refugee camp. She resettled in Tucson, Arizona, where she spent her early adolescence. Zeytun is an alumna of the University of Washington, where she double-majored in International Studies and Korean Studies. A Benjamin A. Gilman scholar, Zeytun studied in Ghana, collaborating with the Ghanaian non-profit Cheerful Hearts Foundation to combat child labor and trafficking and promote rural women's microfinancing. She has also taught English with Jumpstart, prioritizing social-emotional development practices at dual-language early education centers in Seattle. After completing a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship in Korean, Zeytun undertook a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in South Korea. She is returning to higher education to study poverty reduction and resilience-building strategies in Sub-Saharan Africa. Zeytun is pursuing a Master of Arts in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Relations.
