Description: Woorod Atiyat is a rising 3L at Pace University School of Law. She received her BA in Philosophy and Political Science from Seton Hall University. Woorod has interned with public interest organizations including the NJ Office of the Public Defender, Legal Aid Society's Wrongful Conviction Unit, and Legal Services of New Jersey. In her third year of law school, Woorod will be working as a student attorney with the Immigration Justice Clinic representing indigent people living, working, or detained in NY who are fighting their removal from the U.S. and/or seeking to regularize their legal status. Her background and experiences have sculpted her values and instilled a strong sense of responsibility to help her community, particularly vulnerable members who become victims of civil/human rights abuses. Post law school, Woorod plans to work in immigration, prisoners’ rights litigation, and/or criminal defense. Furthermore, she plans to use her degree as a vehicle to run for Councilwoman and represent her community.
