Description: Sofia Ahmed is a graduate of the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism who is passionate about the art of storytelling, politics, and social justice issues. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Scripps College. For her senior thesis, she conducted in depth interviews with Muslim American community leaders and students to analyze the relationship between state sponsored surveillance and Muslim American political expression. She has since successfully transferred her expertise and political knowledge outside of academia into the world of journalism. Always smiling and positive, her personality matches the sunny and vibrant town in which she grew up, Phoenix, Arizona. In her free time she enjoys reading, exploring new cuisines, and making her friends and family laugh.
