Amplifying Muslim Voices

Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF) is a 501 c 3 nonprofit with a mission to increase representation in media and government to improve public policy and public opinion. We envision a country where American Muslims are empowered leaders, and that religion, culture, and race are no longer barriers to equity and equality.

To achieve our vision, we support American Muslims in journalism, public interest law, public policy, and film career trajectories. ISF has awarded over $2.3 million in 594 prestigious awards to over 515 American Muslim applicants since our launch in 2009.

Our film vertical, in particular, has had a tremendous impact despite being our least funded program.

Since 2009, ISF has awarded over $620,000 in funding and career development to over 99 American Muslim filmmakers who have produced over 200 globally-circulated films.

We have amplified their voices by:

• Supporting them as they learn their craft with film scholarships, connecting them to industry leaders, platforms, and career-building opportunities, like Gotham EDU
• Facilitating the creation of their films through production grants and Muslim-centered incubator programs, including the Writers’ Lab
• Helping them form a community and foster creative wellness with Artist Circles, promoting their continued growth through mentorship and career development programs, including Table Reads, Works-in-progress, Technical workshops, and Pitch workshops
• Promoting their national and global reach through the first-ever Muslim distribution grant
