Zoya Sattar is a rising junior at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, majoring in International Studies with a focus in Conflict Resolution. She is also a BA/MA Candidate at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in DC. A recent internship at the Pakistani-American Political Action Committee and a previous internship at the Council on American-Islamic Relations (Oklahoma Chapter) awakened her drive to work in DC in order to have the greatest impact on policy affecting Muslims and other minority groups. A youth leader in her hometown in Oklahoma, Zoya helped set up the Oklahoma Muslim Gamechangers (OMG) Program, with the hope of teaching Muslim high schoolers how to become more vocal and civically engaged. Captain of her high school varsity swim and debate teams, Zoya has always striven to amplify the voice of Muslims in diverse settings. A current board member of the JHU Muslim Student Association, she has worked to foster relations with various interfaith and student groups on campus in order to dispel stereotypes about Muslims. She aspires to become a diplomat and work to resolve the increasing global tensions in this rapidly changing world- to have the opportunity to work on creating policies focused on long-term stability and worldwide peace.
