Zainab Khan is currently a student at the Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and is a recent graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where she was awarded a BA in History and a Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies. Zainab was born in Peshawar, Pakistan and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL.
Her interests include the South Asian and Middle Eastern diaspora networks, transnational youth movements, and more broadly, fashion and how it operates as a global discourse. She has worked on multiple hyper-local political campaigns throughout the state of Illinois. After graduating from Wesleyan, Zainab served as an intern for an Illinois State Representative and is currently serving as Press Coordinator and Assistant Speechwriter for an Illinois County Commissioner.
Zainab serves as a freelance cultural commentator for several American-Muslim publications, as a monthly columnist for Altmuslim at Patheos, and is the Head Writer and Marketing Assistant at AQL Online. Her work has also appeared in publications like The Feminist Wire, The Islamic Monthly, and AltMuslimah.
