Wafa Unus is a journalism and mass communication doctoral candidate at Arizona State University. She received her M.A. in science journalism from the University of Southern California. In 2015, Wafa Unus became the owner the Arizona Muslim Voice, a community newspaper serving the state of Arizona. Within a year of purchasing the paper she revamped it, turning it from primarily aggregated content to an entirely original publication that met the journalistic standards necessary to become a member of the Arizona Newspaper Association. She works as a Senior Communications Writer, consults for national organizations and government agencies on media strategy and manages a small publishing house. Wafa also serves as the reviews editor for the Journal of Radio and Audio Media and as a graduate writing consultant at the University. Her research interests are rooted in the history of journalism and the pivotal moments that contributed to contemporary practice.
