First Place Documentary
Tarek is a Lebanese/Palestinian American filmmaker with over 15 years of experience in Film/Television. He always had an affinity for storytelling, as a young kid he studied hundreds of films and music videos, methodically breaking them down. Growing up in the South, he knew that he wanted to pursue a career in the industry and reclaim the Arab/Muslim narrative in America. This prompted the move to Southern California at the ripe age of 18.
Shortly after receiving a degree in video and film productions, Tarek worked on many shows and feature length films like: Seabiscuit, Buffy The Vampire Slayer (TV), Veronica Mars, Semi-Pro, Pineapple Express, Hole In One, The Last Reef, Giant Shark 3d, Deadliest Catch, Dungeon Cove, The Last Ship, Untold Stories Of ER, Spike Tv’s The Road To Dynamite, Bering Sea Gold, Stop Loss and many more.
Independently, Tarek went on to direct and produce various music videos, commercials and short documentaries. He has developed two feature films and a multi-part documentary series. Currently, Tarek is working as a story producer on a new series for Facebook Watch.
