Mohammad Nasir is currently a 3rd-year doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology and part of the Comparative Race and Diaspora Cluster initiative at Northwestern University. Bilal has previously examined Muslim “third-spaces” in Chicago, or religious and activist spaces independent of the home and the mosque. His upcoming research will examine how U.S. counter-terrorism initiatives impact Muslim American spaces and Islamic practice among Arab, South Asian, and African American youth in Los Angeles. His research interests include Islamophobia, Critical Race Studies, Neo-liberalism, Anthropology of the West, and Islam.
