Jinan Chehade is a junior at DePaul University studying Public Policy and Arabic with a minor in Islamic World Studies. From her upbringing to her education, these experiences have allowed her to manifest her drive and passion for social justice in realistic, viable change. On campus she serves as the president of SJP (Students for Justice in Palestine), vice president of UMMA (United Muslims Moving Ahead), coordinator of Refugee 1, as well as the coordinator for Vincentian Service Day. However her time is not only limited to on campus efforts, but off campus as well. She is the Co-founder and national chair of Hearts4Humanity, a national non-profit campaign which raised a total $160,000 this year for humanitarian causes. She is also a program coordinator for Take On Hate Chicago and previously served as an intern for state Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
Wherever the future may lead her, Jinan hopes to work for justice today to provide a better world for tomorrow. When envisioning her future, she hopes to fill the void of Muslim voices in the political sphere while also remaining faithful to her identity and values.
