Islamic Intellectual History and Political Philosophy
Ibrahim Kamal was born in India and grew up in Chicago. After receiving his BA from the University of Chicago, where he studied political philosophy and Islamic history, Ibrahim spent several years immersed in language study in India, Jordan, and Egypt. His research interests are at the intersection of Islamic thought and political theory in relation to the modern state, empire, and colonialism. He enjoys traveling, teaching, and creative writing, and has taught English literature at international schools in the Middle East.
