Fahad Muhammad Sajid was born in Karachi, Pakistan and moved to the United States in 2008 at the age of 19. He is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he is also the President of the Pakistani Students’ Association and the Michigan Squash Association. He enjoys weight-lifting and likes to write about religious tolerance, social issues affecting American Muslims and American foreign policy, especially with regard to the Middle East. His letter to President Obama was published in the foreign policy section of a book compiled by Professor Hanes Walton Jr. of the University of Michigan and others titled “Letters to President Obama”. He recently received the maximum award from the University of Michigan College of LSA Alumni Scholarship for the second year running, in recognition of his academic and extra-curricular achievements. He interned at the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) during the summer of 2010 and hopes to attend law school starting Fall 2011 with a focus on constitutional and civil rights law. He hopes to use his education and experiences to become an advocate for American Muslims.
