Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18)
Bunyad Bhatti is a junior at The College of New Jersey. She is majoring in Political Science with minors in Arabic and Women and Gender Studies. She recently served as an intern to the Regional Director at The United States Department of Health and Human Services in New York City. Her work focused on assisting the Regional Director on health and social service issues, including implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Prior to this, she served as the Press Secretary for New Jersey’s 15th District Assemblyman campaign. At The College of New Jersey, Bunyad holds a position as Financial Aid Advisor. She assists in the administration of federal, state, and institutional student aid programs for a diverse population of students. Additionally, she is the Vice President for the Muslim Student Association. She plays a role in overseeing and advocating the enhancement of the Muslim community on campus through spiritual, intellectual, and social events. Bunyad spent a year of high school in Pakistan, where she spent time shadowing cancer research specialists at Shaukat Khanam Memorial Hospital. During her time there, she also volunteered at The Rising Sun Institution, where she tutored students with varying levels of learning impairments, fostering their emotional and educational abilities.
