ISF Spring Internship

ISF is seeking passionate and skilled interns to join our team for the Spring semester (January 2020 – May 2020). Interns will have the opportunity to work with our staff on marketing, programming, and operations in order to gain hands-on experience running a nonprofit organization. Interns must be able to commit to a semester of work and for  6-8 hours/week at our office in Downtown Berkeley. Interns will report to ISF’s Administrative Coordinator and/or Director. 

We are looking to fill the following positions:

MEDIA INTERN:

Responsibilities include:

  • Posting on ISF’s social media platforms 
  • Curating topics/articles for use on ISF’s platforms
  • Posting ISF advertisements on community board/spaces locally
  • Work closely with ISF Staff to monitor social media traffic and presence in order to develop optimal communication strategies

Requirements:

  • Has proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office 
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Plays close attention to details
  • Has basic knowledge navigating social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
  • Thinks creatively to solve problems
  • Has a passion for social media and/or marketing

MARKETING INTERN:

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating relevant posters/flyers/postcards for ISF events and programs
  • Tabling/distributing flyers at Friday prayers, halaqas and other events at masjids and community centers
  • Speaking to and briefing interested groups and individuals regarding ISF programs and upcoming events 
  • Supporting media interns in creating engaging posts for social media use

Requirements:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have an excellent grasp of Photoshop or other editing software
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
  • Is comfortable approaching others in marketing scenarios.; has “people-person” qualities
  • Must have reliable access to transportation
  • Is capable of working independently and without direct supervision
  • Has a passion for marketing

ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN:

Responsibilities include:

  • Support Administrative Coordinator & Director in day-to-day tasks & functions
  • Database management & data entry 
  • Perform basic clerical duties; mailing, drafting emails, sort and manage files
  • Occasional research pertaining to ISF related topics/programs
  • Schedule meetings on behalf of Admin. Coordinator & Director and book office space accordingly
  • Run occasional ISF related errands

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Currently enrollment in an undergraduate degree program
  • Driven and hardworking; possess a self-starter attitude
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possesses an ability to multi-task and manage their time well
