ISF offers many joint scholarships to Muslim professional groups that share its common mission and vision. ISF is honored to work with the Muslim Bar Association of New York to host the ISF-MuBANY Scholarship to enable New York based law students to achieve their goals in higher education. The program aims to seek to reciprocally reward active law students in the New York Muslim community, who have the most impact in improving the lives of their Muslim brothers and sisters.
This award is for students who play a prominent role in their community through their activism and leadership, developing visionary ideas for the future of their community. Recipients of this award must have the intention of practicing law in New York upon graduation.
ISF and MuBANY will support its scholarship recipients to fulfill a volunteer service obligation of 20 hours through relevant internship programs within one year of receiving a scholarship.
Description and Eligibility:
ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of four months.
Each Eligible Applicant Must Be:
- Muslim and active member of the New York Muslim community
- Attending or enrolled in a law school in New York
- Enrolled as a Juris Doctor candidate
- Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average
- A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.
ISF’s Selection Committee which is composed of university professors, non-profit organization leaders and community members with years of experience in the academic and non-profit world review and score applications from April to June. Applicant finalists with the highest score are scheduled for web-based video interviews during the month of June. Final selections are made and all applicants are notified in July.
The amount of the scholarship is $3,000 and will be awarded in two installments for the fall and spring semester. With certain exceptions, ISF’s policy is to send checks directly to an applicant’s university.
