Amirah Ahmad is a rising second year the University of Virginia. She is interested in human rights issues, social justice, international relations, and global development.
Amirah is currently studying Global Development Studies and Economics. During the summer of 2015, she interned at the Office of Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) through the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) Congressional Leadership Development Program (CLDP). Previously, she has interned at the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press in Beijing, China and Wicell Technologies in Jakarta, Indonesia. She currently serves as a column writer for Ell Magazine.
On campus, Amirah is committed to multicultural and volunteering organizations. She is a Global Greeter, peer advisor, publicity chair for UN Women, member of the Muslim Student Association, and a volunteer for Challah for Hunger.
